We can only hope

The EWU men's hoop team will take part in ESPNU's annual BracketBusters event. The idea is to pair up a bunch schools in mid-February that don't normally get into the national spotlight, but very well could end up in the NCAA Tournament come march. And if any of these teams pull of the upset, they would bust most anyone's March Madness bracket. Let's hope Eastern can make the post-season and be a true BracketBuster.

More on Seahawks not coming back

Great editorial posted this week on the Everett Herald's web site regarding the Seahawks decision to not come back to EWU for one last Summer fling. It has been wonderful having them here, too bad we didn't have one last camp to give them a final farewell.

Philanthropy 101 -

Here's an interesting article from Sunday's Spokesman Review on the drive by many higher education institutions, including Eastern, to raise more money in the years to come. Great quote by our own new V.P. of Advancement on how people will support a "vision", more than a need. This quote actually concluded the whole story, wich is good because the final words of a story like this tend to stick in peoples minds.

New Media Relations Guy, New Blogger

Readers of this blog have noticed quite a gap between the last postings in early December and now. This is the result of some turnover in the University Relations office. The previous author of this blog, Dave Rey, has taken a job in the President's Office here at Eastern.

So now you get a new Dave - Dave Meany. I'm the new Media Relations Specialist here at Eastern. I'm not only thrilled to be here, but I look forward to developing this great blog that Dave Rey created. Please be patient as I get up to speed. My goal is to post daily articles and happenings about EWU, and I look forward to your input as we move this forward with new ideas. For the time being, you still might see the name "DRey" on each posting as we make the conversion.

If you got this far - thanks! Come again, and go Eagles! Dave.
